Reselling with Makos Boutique
Thank you for your interest in reselling with us at Makos Boutique. Reselling your items is a great way to recycle gently or barely worn clothing and get some cash back for it! Whether you’ve changed jobs, changed sizes or completely changed your mind, bring in these pieces and get rewarded with money on the spot! It’s convenient, efficient and there’s no hidden fee’s, unlike many online resale sites.

I want to resell some items at your store, where do I start?
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment. Please note that we are a small boutique and only have so much room to put out inventory. Do not come into the store with your items without an appointment, we will not accept them.
Why do I need an appointment?
While other larger resale stores do not require an appointment, we are small and only have so much room. We like to keep our racks clean and not overfilled so we can not accept too many items at once.
What condition should my items be in?
We accept items that are barely worn, gently worn or never worn. No items with stains, rips, discoloration, as well as any items clearly old or out of style will be considered.
What types of items are you accepting?
We accept a range of different items that are listed below. (Please note that styles must be in current season - i.e. no winter jackets when selling over the summer months.)
- Dresses (Casual or dressy)
- Denim (Shorts, Jeans, Skirts, Jackets)
- Bottoms (Non Denim)
- Jackets (Trench, Waterfall, Moto, Denim)
- Sweaters and Cardigans
- Shoes (We prefer barely worn, no visible stains or marks inside or out.)
- Bags and other accessories
Due to regular health regulations and concerns we are NOT accepting any of the following:
- Undergarments of any kind
- Bathing suits
(Also, please do NOT come in with handmade items)
At the time of your appointment, please bring in items clean, folded and in bins/garment type bags. (Do not show up with any clothing dirty, balled up or in any type of trashbag. We will turn them away on the spot.)
I have high end designer bags and shoes. Can I sell them here?
For all designer and higher priced items, we are offering consignment. We will keep the item on the store for a 4 week period, starting the day you come in. You will receive 40% of the profits off consigned items. (Cash up front is 30% of the selling price, but consignment is up to 50% since there is a waiting period and no guarantee on selling.)
What style clothing are you looking for?
Our main target customer is:
- Women between 20-35 years old in college or in her career
- Mainly enjoys purchasing items that she can wear from day to night and is able to style multiple ways.
- Shops for clothing to wear to college classes or to work
- Enjoys leading an active lifestyle
Our store is known for selling items that women can wear to multiple places. (i.e. work, dinner, casual) We pride ourselves on mainly selling items that could be worn both causally or dressed up, although we do offer occasion wear during holiday seasons.
We are looking to purchase items from you that fit that following customer. Certain brands, sizes or styles may not be accepted.
How much am I getting paid?
You get 30% of what the item will be sold for. Our regular retail items mainly sell between $26-$38 and will be offering the second time around pieces for less than that. (Except for designer items such as bags, shoes, etc) These prices depend on the brand, condition and item itself and is entirely up to the employee to price them accordingly. The store does participate in sales and discounts, although promotions may or may not include resale.
When choosing your items from you, we may not need as many of one item as we do of another. For example: If we have 20 pairs of jeans in our consignment section currently, we may not take all or any of your jeans. This is not to say that they aren’t in good condition, we just need to keep our inventory balanced as well as we can. We do aim to try and purchase a little bit of everything from you, but we may need more of one item than the other. We also keep in mind the style, condition and season when choosing items.
How to I get paid?
You get paid on the spot! We will go through which items we are taking and give you an offer for them. If approved, we will write you a check for the amount. We do not give cash.
